Don Snell (1922–2014)
Don Snell was an acclaimed American artist known for his abstract figurative paintings. Born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, he later pursued his artistic passion after serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He earned a BFA from the University of Texas at Austin and continued postgraduate studies at Tulane University.
Over his 55-year career, Snell received numerous awards from institutions such as the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts and the Austin Museum of Art. His work, recognized for its bold expression and vivid storytelling, was exhibited in museums and galleries across the country. In 2010, he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Austin Visual Arts Association.
Snell's artistic vision and dedication to his craft continue to inspire, leaving a lasting imprint on the world of abstract art.
